Engine 33 participated with several of the 21 covered grant companies from the Capital Region at a press release Wednesday evening held at HACC Public Safety Training Center. The four-year grant, focused on recruiting, training, and retaining members will be coming to an end in November 2025. This week’s training went over primary and secondary search tactics at our acquired structure. Crews worked on scenarios with and without the use of the Thermal Imaging Camera, getting the victims to the closest egress, as well as radio communications. Several years ago a pool table was donated to the fire company. Over the last few weeks, members have been working on some updates to it including a new felt surface. After removing the old cover, an inspection tag was found showing that the table was originally inspected in 1969. A pool table was once to focal point in many fire stations, including New Kingstown. Saturday morning began with an accident on I81 NB near MM53. Crews from New Kingstown, Union, Carlisle Fire Rescue, and Silver Spring Fire Police responded to the incident.
