Capital Region Grant Update

Engine 33 participated with several of the 21 covered grant companies from the Capital Region at a press release Wednesday evening held at HACC Public Safety Training Center. The four-year grant, focused on recruiting, training, and retaining members will be coming to an end in November 2025. This week’s training went over primary and secondary search tactics at our acquired structure. Crews worked on scenarios with and without the use of the Thermal Imaging Camera, getting the victims to the closest egress, as well as radio communications. Squad Assists on 2 Mutual Aid Calls Overnight

Squad 33 (with 6) responded as RIT on the hotel room fire in Lower Allen Township then released to respond to second incident involving a possible gas leak inside in the same commercial development. The crew established RIT upon arrival at the fire and monitored operations and small tasks assigned by command. Several years ago a pool table was donated to the fire company. Over the last few weeks, members have been working on some updates to it including a new felt surface. After removing the old cover, an inspection tag was found showing that the table was originally inspected in 1969. A pool table was once to focal point in many fire stations, including New Kingstown. Saturday morning began with an accident on I81 NB near MM53. Crews from New Kingstown, Union, Carlisle Fire Rescue, and Silver Spring Fire Police responded to the incident. Crews found a passenger vehicle and tractor trailer involved, both which crossed from the Southbound lanes, through the median, across both NB Lanes and off the road. On April 19, 1995 at 09:02 hours the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building took place in Oklahoma City.

Just over an hour later at 10:05, fire crews from Silver Spring Township and surrounding areas were sent to the Hall Mansion off RT114 for a building fire.
