At 21:23 hours Thursday evening, Companies 31 and 33 were sent to 2100 Bent Creek Blvd for a commercial fire alarm. This response was upgrade immediately for a reported fire in the building. E33 (6) was on the street right away with a full crew. E33 was given the Side A assignment and laid out from the hydrant; Truck 31 went to Side C. The reports indicated smoke coming from a specific room. The investigation crew went immediately to the room with extinguishers while lines were stretched from the Engine. Investigation found an HVAC unit issue and had the fire controlled quickly. Staff members were able to either shelter in place or move residents to an unaffected area. Ventilation was started as soon as possible after confirming no extension. Squad 33 picked up the hydrant layout. The box was reduced to the township apparatus and Truck 29 about 6 minutes after arrival. With this being a "high life" hazard building, crew ensured all residents were safe, accounted for, and did not need medical treatment while a coordinated fire attack occurred simultaneously. Company 33 cleared at 22:15 hours. Note, several photos obtained from the E33 officer's helmet camera.
