The New Kingstown Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary was formed in the early days of the fire company as a way to keep the wives of the firemen involved in the fire company. Regular meetings were held, and annual election of officers occurred. The Ladies were involved in many aspects of the fire company including fund raising and canteen services at fires and emergencies. Many times, the ladies were called upon to clean chickens for the Bar-B-Ques and make the soup for the annual festival.
Over the years, the Ladies have contributed to the fire company including new gas ovens, grills, cabinetry, warming cabinet, steam table, as well as walk in cooler and freezers. The Ladies Auxiliary is a very important part of the fire company.
The Ladies Auxiliary has remain active in the fire company, as many of the original members have passed on, several family members and friends continue their legacy this day. They continue to meet monthly and participate in the fire company. They also have several fund raisers throughout the year.
If you are interested in joining the ladies auxiliary, please contact President Heather Robbins by calling the Fire Station at 717-766-4033 and leaving a message.
