Today we return to the flashback Friday posts. 8/27/1985 - A single engine plane crashed into a field (tree farm) located off Rich Valley Rd at Foxanna Dr. Crews from New Kingstown, Silver Spring, Citizens of Mechanicsburg, and Silver Spring Ambulance responded to the late afternoon incident. The plane had taken off from a grass airstrip located nearby and experienced mechanical problems and the pilot tried to get it back to land at the same place; he crashed into the field, the plane caught fire, and the pilot died in the accident. Units were on scene several hours then returned the next day for standby.
