E33 (3), Mp33 (3) responded at 12:02 to Kuhn Rd and Maxele Ln in Monroe Township for a reported Mountain Fire endangering a structure. A smoke header was visible from several miles away and units from York County had already been operating on their side of the mountain. Cumberland County Units initially staged on Kuhn Rd until access was determined. Mp25, Mp33, and Brush 236 made access to the rear of the structure and set up operations running water lines into the woods for the right and left flanks of the fire. While getting lines in place, the fire was extending into the area. With several changes in the wind during the incident, the right flank of the fire jumped the original fire line and threatened the structure where units were set up. Forestry crew members lit back fires in attempt to burn out away from the house. The step gun from E33 was used to protect the area as well as the lines laid down into the mountain while crews continued to gain control. The fire was stopped before any damage the residence. A helicopter with a suspended water bucket was also used at the scene. During the later part of the incident, rain began falling in the area. Crews were on scene several hours. Fortunately, the White Rock Acres community is protected by fire hydrants; these were used to supply to the scene. E225, E125, T41, and E33 were used to pump water to the scene. A total of 1,900 feet of hose was used off Mp33 at the scene. Even more hose from other units was used in water supply operations. Once again, teamwork of all agencies combined command and communications led to a successful outcome. Origin of the fire appeared to have been from a controlled burn in York County. Forestry crews remained on scene once apparatus cleared at 16:24. Thanks to members of the ladies auxiliary for bringing snacks and drinks to supplement what was already at the scene.
